Under: dogs
Today we drove all the way to Appleton! 90 miles away and practicably two hr drive.
Why? Because thats where hunter is! Who is Hunter?
Back-story: after Swagga/ Jo-jo left, we all kinda felt a void, Bailey was the worst. She still looks around the yard and house for him to show up. So I was bugging dad about a puppy in the Washington county humane society... it was $105.60-$158.40. aint-a-gonna-happen! But I was just browsing wail in Ohio, and came across rescueapitbull.com. Wisconsin's Free Online Resourse Center For Pitbull Rescue Dogs, free Wisconsin pit bull rescue dog listings is a free online listing of homeless pit bulls, and pit bull mix dogs that have been rescued and need to be adopted. I saw Hunter then, but he didn't jump out at me... but he does look just like Bailey. (not exact but Kinda) So when I got home from Ohio I told dad about Hunter, nothing big, just that I saw a dog online that looked the same as bailey and it would be funny if they where somehow related. ....
So on Tuesday, April 13th, dad came to my door and said "well hurry up so we can look at the dog before I go to work." ... I was like what dog? He described Hunter, and I was like ...Ok, well I gotta look him up, see where he is in WI and if he is still available. So I found his little listing, and showed dad the pictures, and he read what was there. I asked if he wanted to contact the guy, or if dad was just messing around. He said email him. and the ball was set in motion.
Our Emails:
me:
hello, we have a few questions on hunter.
first would be is he still available?
is he good with other dogs?
or cats?
if yes, we would like to see him.
how much are you asking for him?

He plays well with dogs he knows , but we are not 100% on
newcomers untill he knows them. we used to take him to the dog park all
the time now with three jobs and three children it has been a while. I
mainly run him for excercise. Cats are not good he wants to chase them.
Like squirrels. Not sure what he would do if he actually caught them,
but hes not a aggressive dog at all. hes very loyal and loves to be
with his owner all the time. He kennels very well and would most likely
lick you to death before biting.
I would want to meet whoever is taking him first and there is no
charge as long as he is going to a loving home. He is up to date on
rabies, borda tella, etc. Let me know any further questions you may
have.
me:
we where dog sitting for two months, and he went home the end of march, and our Bailey has been depressed ever since. She is a pit/boxer mix. she is anywhere from 80-100lbs, depending on the season, and she also thinks she is a lap dog. We got so use to having the two... anyway. It's a possibility. Is there anytime you have free this weekend? I would like Bailey to meet him too, and see if they like each other. (sent pic of bailey with email)

As of this moment it looks like we aren't working this weekend, but I have off for sure. Saturday is a better day for us. we live in the town of Grafton, it's about 15minutes north of Milwaukee off 43. are you in Neenah or Wauwatosa? Yeah we can see him first (before bailey) but I may just leave her in the car too.

me:
I get out of work at 5 can I give you a call then?
stv:
No problem at all. Have a great day.
So I called him on Friday, and we set everything up. Since it is a far drive, I brought Bailey, but left her in the car for a bit.
We met Hunter, and He was a happy lil tail wagger. He was fine with Kyla (small child) fine with dad (men) and fine with me (women) so he is a good Family dog. Tons of kisses, and lots of wagging. Next was the hard part, would he get along with Bailey? Dad got her from the car and they met. They both put the ears back, but kept the tails wagging... but as they where going for the butt sniff... their leashes got snagged and both dogs felt a tug by their neck/shoulder... both assuming the other did it they growled and snapped. but not at each other. it was good. He does seem like he wants to be the dominant one, but he is not aggressive. Alot of times he would lunge at Bailey tail wagging, It really seemed like he just wanted to play. When it was time to go we let Bailey get in the car first and then with him on the leash we just let him jump in and sit. we wanted to see how they did in a confined space together. They did great! Bailey got in and sat down, then he got in and sat down... then they both kinda looked back at us like... umm what cha all looking at? are we suppose to do something here? So the guy agreed to bring Hunter down for a second visit. So we can see how he is on "bailey's turf". So if it all works out he should be here tomorrow with all his stuff :)
my email after the visit:
We liked Hunter and would like it if he came down. He does have a bit of a dominant attitude, but not aggressive. They would need to work things out amongst themselves. But once alpha is established I think they would be just fine. It would be nice to see them them just play. It is a loong drive. So it also depends how you feel about them also... so If you feel up to the drive we would appreciate it :)
If tomorrow works out for you, anytime before 3 is good for us.

So waiting for a reply... hopefully he does, and all goes well tomorrow... *fingers crossed*

wow they look like twins, lol I am available this weekend. it
seems that dog intro can be good or bad and they really dont tell the
long term but I would be open. where are you guys from? what would work
best for you. I would like it if you could meet hunter on his own to
determine your thoughts on his disposition first?
Lemme know,

Hey there Saturday after 1 pm would be fine. I live actually in
appleton just north of neenah about 10 minutes. I totally understand
bringing bailey. I have just had a couple of dogs bit him in interviews
so I am always skeptical of his reaction until hes comfortable. My
cell phone and work phone is 920------- just give me a call by friday
to set up details, have a great week,
