I am a lil dehydrated nothing too bad... but bad enough to not find my veins.
grr.. The Nurse searched and searched, because she wanted to try and get it first try...
Tried the left... no luck, moved around a bit... still no luck.
Then she found one in the right, but she said those are good, but they're rollers...
but the right side she got first try.
The blood test was for the Triple-screen test.
"Conducted at about the 16th week of pregnancy, this measures the levels of three chemicals in your blood that can predict whether your baby is at increased risk for conditions such as Down syndrome and spina bifida."
Well I'm in my 17th week... but :P
She said the results take 2-3 weeks to get back... It goes to out to Milwaukee tomorrow and then to California. Then California sends back the results.
Hmm. Ok that's a bit much, but ok.

I gained 3lbs... normally I would be mad but, that's ok.
or is it?
"It is very common for women to not gain weight in the first trimester of pregnancy. Nausea and morning sickness can affect the appetite. This does not affect the baby's growth. It's perfectly normal for your appetite to be coming back in the 2nd trimester"
Ok that was totally me.

How Much Weight Should You Gain in the 1st Trimester?
1 to 1 1/2 pounds per month for a total of 3-5 pounds.
I did not... I gained nothing.
How Much Weight Should You Gain in the 2nd Trimester?
About 1 pound per week for a total of 12 to 14 pounds.
Uhhh... What now?
Ok, so I guess I shouldn't feel obese...
Dr.Fait said I was good, and that I'm back on track.

Then he checked the baby's heart beat. He asked Kyla "can you hear the baby's heart beat?"
Kyla got all upset, "Mommy why you eat da baby? spit it out!"
We all had a good chuckle. :)
We told her the baby will come out when it's ready. She called me a mommy kangaroo, I said that's a close enough thought. The baby's heart rate is 135.
There is an old wives tale that you can predict the gender of your baby by using the heart rate of your baby during pregnancy. It was said that 140+ beats per minute (BPM) was a girl and under 140 BPM was a boy.
The theory has been debunked but still a girl can dream!
