We're at the halfway day!!!! Baby Sims weighs about 10 1/2 ounces now and is around 6 1/2 inches long from head to bottom and about 10 inches from head to heel — the length of a banana. Woot!!!  8 more days until the ultrasound... soon we will know, bouncing bubbly baby boy or gorgeous giddy girl. Half way day, half way day! Half way to go and half way done! Half way day!!!! 20 weeks down...20 weeks to go!

Today We (Kyla and I) registered at Target. It was fun. Kyla is running the baby sprinkle so she helped pick out what the baby would like. She loved the beeper (scanner), and we found a lot of fun things.and we even got a goodie bag. It had free samples and coupons in it!

Still haven't changed my HMO, but Dr. Fait saw me today. Kyla came with to the appointment.

I am a lil dehydrated nothing too bad... but bad enough to not find my veins.
grr.. The Nurse searched and searched, because she wanted to try and get it first try...
Tried the left... no luck, moved around a bit... still no luck.
Then she found one in the right, but she said those are good, but they're rollers...
but the right side she got first try.
The blood test was for the Triple-screen test.
"Conducted at about the 16th week of pregnancy, this measures the levels of three chemicals in your blood that can predict whether your baby is at increased risk for conditions such as Down syndrome and spina bifida."
Well I'm in my 17th week... but :P
She said the results take 2-3 weeks to get back... It goes to out to Milwaukee tomorrow and then to California. Then California sends back the results.
Hmm. Ok that's a bit much, but ok.

I gained 3lbs... normally I would be mad but, that's ok.
or is it?
"It is very common for women to not gain weight in the first trimester of pregnancy. Nausea and morning sickness can affect the appetite. This does not affect the baby's growth. It's perfectly normal for your appetite to be coming back in the 2nd trimester"
Ok that was totally me.

How Much Weight Should You Gain in the 1st Trimester?
1 to 1 1/2 pounds per month for a total of 3-5 pounds.
I did not... I gained nothing.
How Much Weight Should You Gain in the 2nd Trimester?
About 1 pound per week for a total of 12 to 14 pounds.
Uhhh... What now?
Ok, so I guess I shouldn't feel obese...
Dr.Fait said I was good, and that I'm back on track.

Then he checked the baby's heart beat. He asked Kyla "can you hear the baby's heart beat?"
Kyla got all upset, "Mommy why you eat da baby? spit it out!"
We all had a good chuckle. :)
We told her the baby will come out when it's ready. She called me a mommy kangaroo, I said that's a close enough thought. The baby's heart rate is 135.
There is an old wives tale that you can predict the gender of your baby by using the heart rate of your baby during pregnancy. It was said that 140+ beats per minute (BPM) was a girl and under 140 BPM was a boy.
The theory has been debunked but still a girl can dream!

I'm going to try and keep Dr. Fait until after my next appointment.
I want my 3D ultrasound!!!!
The ultrasound appointment will be Saturday, February  6th.
Yea!

January 9, 2010
So last night Matt and I were talking...
I was bugging him about not picking boy or girl for the baby pool.
So I asked him if he even cared... to which he said, "No, I don't."
I said, "How can you not care about the baby!"
His reply made my jaw drop.
He said, "I care about the baby. I just don't care if it's a boy or girl.
I wanted a boy so bad when we had her [Kyla], and I couldn't love her more.
So whatever it turns out to be I'm going to love it. I don't care what gender it is."
Awwwww.

So after my aww how sweet moment.
I said "well I still want you in the baby's scrapbook, so I'll but you down as neutral."

So both mommy and daddy are sort of a wash in the gender pool.
I want a boy, but I feel like it's going to be a girl.

and he just wants a healthy baby.
Photobucket
....I'm not saying I don't want a healthy baby, because of course I want a healthy baby, but....
BOY BOY BOY!  And if you ask big sister Kyla "Baby Bruada! Baby Bruada!"
