Two Week Checkup

July 5, 2010
July 4th- Shayna spend the whole day screaming. Nothing would make her happy. This whole week she has had 'random nasty poos!' one day she would not poop at all. And the next day she would poop 8x! Her pooh color went between runny green and normal. That is usually a sign of infection... It was really bad (at its peak), but it was a Sunday, and she is going in tomorrow so... I waited.

July 5th-
We just got back from the dr... She is now 8lbs 3oz (45%) and 20 1/2 inches (60%)!
The doc and I talked about how Shea has been, then the doc looked her over, she also noticed that Shea's voice is getting raspy ...
My poor baby has acid reflux! And is lactose intolerant :(

She is going to be put on a trail diet for a week, and then we will call the doc back and tell her how it goes. Hopefully this will work, and there isn't anything else wrong! Diet is, soy formula, and for the breast feeding... no dairy for me! No cheese, no milk, ...*gasp * ... no cream puff at the fair or ice cream!

For the acid reflux, she has medicine to take, once in the morning and once at night time. For her comfort she should sleep on an incline, the doc even said she could sleep in her car seat. She actually said it would be best because it is the proper angle and safe. Just put her in her car seat and then put the car seat in the crib.

Shayna's cord is mostly healed and looking good, we can even give her a bath now!

We made the rest of her appointments, up to a year and scheduled Kyla’s so they are the same time. Then we went to the pharmacy to get her medicine.

3:00- Gave Shayna her medicine and her first soy bottle.
3:28- First smile!!!!! She woke up from her very short nap and looked up at me and smiled!!!! I know it was probably just gas, but still she is happy!!! ...opps back to night nights now I guess: D
3:40- Hurray!!! Completely different baby!!! She is looking at me and cooing and happy!!!!! JOY!!!! Good for you Shayna!!!!
4:37- She has always been my perfectly beautiful lil girl, but she is sleeping now... and I just glanced over...her face isn't red anymore!!!! she has beautiful 'snow white' skin :) Her whole body is lightening up now, and she looks so relaxed :))

First Week part two

June 27, 2010
23rd= Wednesday, we went for our first walk using the double stroller. We took big sister Kyla to the elementary school for a meeting; hopefully she will be going there next year! :)

24th=
Thursday, today we had our wic appointment (in west bend). They gave a little more help with the breast feeding.  But do not give out her kind of formula, so we went with full breast feeding. (I will not be feeding her Gerber good start...even if they have taken the nestle name off their container...) also I weigh 210...ick!

25th=
Friday, The state nurse came to see us today. (Home visit) she has been our biggest help threw the pregnancy, and it stinks that we are done seeing her. But the pregnancy is over :) She checked my blood pressure and it's all good. Shayna weighs 7 lbs 14 oz. and is still 20in long. At night time dad (grandpa bob-bob) took us out to dinner @ the flipside to celebrate Shayna's first week.

26th= Saturday, We went for a really nice long walk today :) Also we finally celebrated father’s day for grandpa Bob-Bob. We grilled out! We had Ribs and burgers and veggies with dip! Matt, Jackie, Jordan, Kyla, Shayna, Me and Bob-Bob were there.

27th=
Sunday, we wanted to walk to church today, but it is downright rainy! It was down pouring so hard I didn't even want to drive there! We will have to go Monday night, so we can see if they put Shayna in the bulletin. It did clear up for a little bit, in that time we did manage to get to the grocery store :) but the rain was still unpredictable so we didn't make it to the strawberry festival. So I just got Kyla a treat from the store. :(

First Week part one

June 23, 2010
18th= Friday, Shayna's official first day of life! Kyla came to see us at the hospital and met Shayna for the first time!  She also brought Nana, great aunt June and Auntie Jackie. The hospital also gave us a lunch special lunch!!! Matt and I got steak and 'sparkling apple juice' and the chocolate fudge cake was to die for!

19th=
Saturday ...still at hospital... *sigh* bored!

20th= Sunday, its father’s day & we got released from the hospital!!!!! Welcome home Baby Shea!!!!! Matt grilled some burgers and invited Adam and his family over, it was nice. :)

21st= Monday, Our day of rest. Ish? Well kind of, we were just getting adjusted to home life with two little ones!!!! I had to call a bunch of places and make necessary appointments. Shayna has been spitting up her simlac, and not drinking the breast milk. :( So we tried the Enfamil gentlease and switched her formula, she has been doing great now. Hurray! No more gassy baby!!! The wic breast feeding consultant came by and dropped off a breast pump for me to use.

22nd=
Tuesday, Today she pulled her umbilical cord off... but luckily it was dried off enough and we will see the doctor in 15 minutes so it should be ok... dr. appointment went well, she is still 7lbs 12oz and is in the 50% and her length is 20in, which is the 70%.:) Yea for baby! We thought it was weird that she lost half an inch? But the doc said that's because her head was 'de-scrunching'. We also took her to lime Kiln Park for her first disc golf and park experience!!!
